How Trans Ideology Epitomizes Mass Formation

Seems not too long ago the claims that “men can get pregnant” and “women can have penises” would have been met with well-deserved skepticism and incredulity. In recent past, the sight of a suburban mother coaxing her preschooler to drop dollar bills into a drag queen’s garter would have rightfully prompted a referral to child protective services. And until most recently, the notion that a children’s hospital would actually provide “gender affirming surgeries” on fifteen-year-olds would have been met with justifiable horror. The times we live in are marked by undeniable absurdity, thanks to the well-organized efforts of the radicalized transgender movement and their leveraging of mass formation.

In his newly released book The Psychology of Totalitarianism, world-renowned professor of Clinical Psychology Mattias Desmet illustrates how technocratic totalitarianism is forcing millions of people into a destructive groupthink. This groupthink would not be possible without an irresponsible mass media with little interest in ascertaining or reporting truth and complicit in advancing instead absurd narratives (e.g., “men can give birth”).

As a collective, those pressured into groupthink freely affirm “truths” (puberty blockers are harmless), policies (biological men can compete in women’s sports), and practices (celebrating drag queen story hour) that they would never affirm individually.

Desmet identifies four key conditions that precede mass formation: (1) generalized loneliness and social isolation, (2) lack of meaning (which often stems from a disconnection with others), (3) free-floating anxiety and psychological unease, and finally (4) an object or objects to take out these negative feelings on. History’s record of mass graves and gulags gives silent testimony that when these four conditions are met, totalitarian leaders have free rein to manipulate the agitated masses.

In The Psychology of Totalitarianism, we learn of several common features that mark totalitarian systems buttressed by a population that has undergone mass formation. These features were evident in the genocidal movements enacted in the name of “human progress” of the last century, as well as in the more recent COVID response. For this article, I will focus on just one as it finds application in the cultural inculcation of transgender ideology: the “voice” that exercises a hypnotic effect on the crowd.

The Hypnotic Voice

More than 125 years ago, French polymath Gustave LeBon recognized that the effect of mass formation is identical to hypnosis.[1] When it comes to “the psychological crowds” LeBon characterized (his term), such hypnosis is enabled by a suggestive statement or narrative that is conveyed by a mesmerizing voice. This voice has its epicenter in totalitarian leaders, or a political movement, or some cause.

Desmet describes how that voice operates like a waveform, holding the crowds by its vibrational frequency. Made possible by the mass media, the totalitarian voice systematically indoctrinates with the most absurd propaganda. As recently as a few months ago, we witnessed throngs of Americans caught up in the vibrational frequency of Pride Month celebrations. Recklessly advancing transgender ideology with openly pedophilic displays, the media provided a mouthpiece for recruiting the youngest among us, with proud parents – eyes wide shut – looking on. To this voice they added powerful, colorful symbols that proved irresistible.

Eliminating Dissident Voices

To guarantee that only their voice is heard, Desmet explains, totalitarian leaders are ever diligent to eliminate all dissident voices. For anyone who has been cancelled, had their job threatened or their social media accounts suspended for challenging any central dogma of the movement, this comes as no surprise.

Scott (Kellie) Newgent, transgender man-turned-activist and founder of TRe Voices, an organization raising awareness of the dangers of medical gender transitions in children, understands this type of censorship too well. For daring to challenge the utopian ideal forwarded by the medical-industrial complex, which says that medical transition brings optimal mental health and wellness, Newgent was Twitter-banned. Newgent’s own story is anything but resonant with the hypnotic voice of the LGBTQIA+ narrative.

These actions go beyond dictatorial; they are totalitarian. Desmet provides an interesting contrast between classical dictators and totalitarians. Classical dictators silence political opposition, so as to monopolize the voice in the public sphere. Totalitarians take this a step further, silencing all opposition, so as to be the only voice in the public and private sphere.

Most ominously, this silencing often occurs due to what Desmet terms the “paranoid informant mentality,” which allows the enforcement arm of the totalitarian to penetrate the very heart of private life. Nowhere is this more manifest than when the LGBTQIA+ tentacles reach into the homes of our own friends and family members, turning a daughter against her own mother (for not purchasing a chest binder), or a son against his own father (for forbidding the chemical castration inflicted by puberty blockers). One has to wonder what will become of families if responsible parental behavior – that is, forbidding dangerous, medical “gender affirming” procedures on minors – becomes criminalized. We can imagine that children will be encouraged by the LGBTQA+ commissars in their schoolrooms to report their “abusive and bigoted” parents to authorities.

The Judgment of History

Finally, history tells us – and our own times reveal – that the malevolent voice casting a hypnotic spell on the masses is cruel. Like the totalitarian regimes that preceded it, the transgender movement curates a horrible lie, promising a utopia that will never come to pass. We can sadly anticipate that future generations will not look kindly on ours when they read the historical record of this generation, recounting hundreds of thousands of destroyed bodies and lives that this radicalized transgender ideology is already leaving in its wake.
